Verizon is recruiting executives for a London office who may be able to help it sign deals with content providers looking to reach consumers through over-the-top video distribution.
The company’s Verizon Digital Media Services unit wants to hire a managing director for its London office with “strong experience in media and entertainment; experience in broadcast, IPTV, streaming technologies,” according to a job listing Verizon posted on Wednesday.
Verizon is also recruiting a network operations engineer and a “regional client executive, media and entertainment” for its London operation.
The expansion of VDMS, which includes assets Verizon acquired from EdgeCast and upLynk, comes as more content owners are exploring ways to reach consumers through OTT distribution. Verizon says in marketing materials on its VDMS site that it can launch four “fully functional OTT video streaming applications (Xbox, Roku, iOS, Android) in just 72 hours.”
VDMS customers include Walt Disney Co.’s ABC and the Indianapolis Colts.
