Arris Slaps Bluetooth Inside Next-Gen IP Video Box

While it looks like a hockey puck at first glance, a next-generation IP video set-top from Arris contains 1 GB of storage and supports Bluetooth according to an FCC test report obtained by The Donohue Report.

The Arris VIP 4402W appears similar in shape to the VIP 4302W (pictured above), which supports HEVC (High Efficiencey Video Coding).

One key upgrade is support for Bluetooth, which could help Arris customers deliver personalized programming and advertising to subscribers using mobile devices that support Bluetooth.
